At Be Someone, Inc., we’re not just teaching chess—we’re teaching choices. Every pawn, every piece, every move on the board is a lesson in life. Our mission is simple but urgent: use the game of kings to save the lives of future leaders.
I founded Be Someone after hearing the tragic news of seven employees being shot execution-style over just $2,400. That senseless loss sparked a fire in me. I knew I had to do something. That “something” was to teach young people that violence is never the answer—thinking is. Strategy is. Preparation is. Love is.
For the past 20+ years, I’ve been traveling the country, laying out my life-size chessboard and showing students that life is a game of strategy, not chance. If you make the right moves, you can win. But first—you’ve got to learn the rules, control the center, protect your king, and above all—think before you act.
Our slogan is “Make Every Move Count” for a reason. The same principles that win chess games—patience, planning, discipline, and thinking ahead—can save lives, build businesses, and create leaders.
We’re not just building chess champions.
We’re building relationship builders, critical thinkers, and community changemakers.
Whether it’s in schools, churches, or juvenile centers, the results are real. Lives changed. Futures redirected. Violence prevented.
Every move matters. Every child matters.
